SMFA were engaged by Emmaus Catholic School to assist with the next stage of their master plan which involved the redevelopment and expansion of the school’s library and staff room, creation of 2x new classrooms for mid-year reception students, new playgroup and outdoor spaces.

irectly adjacent to the admin building, and a central hub for the school, the library was transformed into a versatile, inclusive common learning area through the thoughtful reconfiguration of space. Diverse pockets of space have created opportunities to support independent and collaborative modes of learning.
The full refurbishment of the space with natural textures and playful use of colour in neutral tones, created a calming space that inspires imagination and curiosity.
Ample glazing allows the internal spaces to blend with the new nature play landscape, where the same tones and colours are reflected in the native vegetation, creating a seamless transition between internal and external learning environments.
Upon the successful completion of this project, the school engaged SMFA to update their masterplan, with Stage 1 currently in concept phase.
